Mass Casualty

Florida ranks among the top 5 states with the most natural disasters. The impact of disasters can easily overwhelm hospitals and healthcare facilities well after the storms dissipate. Natural disaster may take the form of hurricanes, tornados or floods while mass casualties may impact healthcare through shootings, explosions, and major traffic accidents.

Critical Thinking

Nurses use critical thinking every day. As you become more experienced, it becomes second nature. What really is critical thinking, does it matter, and how does it play out in your nursing career? Are there behaviors or characteristics that are seen in people who are critical thinkers?

The answer to the first few questions is critical thinking is part of nursing that is an essential skill used for every decision made that effects patient care.

ABHES Accreditation

Congratulations Taylor College on achieving and receiving your 2nd Institutional Accreditation!

Accreditation by ABHES signifies that the institution has met the eligibility criteria and evaluation standards of ABHES as evidenced during its most recent on-site review and continues to comply with the policies and procedures for maintenance of accreditation as established by ABHES.

Taylor College Department of Nursing wishes to announce that it will host a site review for initial accreditation of its professional and practical nursing programs by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

You are invited to meet the site visit team and share your comments about the programs in person at a meeting scheduled at 4 pm on September 25th, 2018 at Taylor College.

Back to School Helping Hands School Supply Donations

Taylor College is set to host its first Back to School Helping Hands School Supply Donations on Saturday, August 4th at 11 a.m. The goal is to bridge the gap between what families can afford and what students need in the local community.

There are students in our community who cannot afford basic school supplies.

Judy Morici (Practical Nursing Faculty)

Judy Morici is glad to be a part of Taylor College. Her passion is teaching students and she is eager to begin!

Grand Canyon University Master of Science in Nursing; Emphasis in Nursing Education • University of Central Florida Medical Risk Management Certification 120 hours • District Teaching Certificate for Marion County Public Schools Florida

Experience • Taught C.N.A., P.N. and R.N. nursing at local colleges in residential, clinical and online platforms.

Anita Hapshie (Professional Nursing Faculty)

Anita has been a nurse for 41 years. Most of her career (35 years) has been spent in Critical Care on the night shift. After being out of school for 25 years, Anita decided to go back to school to get her BSN which gave her the idea to continue in 2014 to complete her MSN in Nursing Informatics.

Welcome Aboard New Faculty

Dr. Shelby Elaine Havens, DNP, ARNP, joins us from Gainesville where she retired from the VA and Department of Corrections. She will be serving as Acting Director of Professional Nursing as we move forward with accreditation and Director search. Her DNP is in Executive Leadership.
