This continuing education course is designed for individuals who have prior healthcare training and/or are licensed/certified in a healthcare field and/or are currently working in the healthcare industry. The course provides individuals with an understanding of the responsibilities associated with those of an EKG Technician. The course provides an overview of anatomy and physiology, the cardiovascular system, disease and wellness, and clinical procedures necessary to complete an EKG, including the steps necessary to prepare reports for hospitals and doctor’s offices. In addition, the course promotes communication skills, legal and ethical considerations, safety measures, and emergency response. Upon successful completion of this course, a Certificate of Completion will be issued.

Upon successful completion of this course, individuals will have the opportunity to apply for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam to become a Certified EKG Technician. Prior to applying for the exam, individuals must complete 10 EKGs and supply documentation of those EKGs with their application to NHA. Taylor College is a testing site for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Individuals who submit their application and testing fee to NHA can take the EKG Technician certification exam at the College.
