Black Nurses Rock is the largest minority association in the country representing over 174,000 African American nurses and students from the USA, Canada, Eastern Caribbean, Africa, Japan, and Germany. The association overall goal and mission is to assist driven, determined, and dedicated nurses of Ocala to grow professionally, while addressing healthcare disparities within the Ocala/Marion County area. They’re committed to making a difference with professional nursing chapter members that are empowered, engaged, and ready to embrace the needs of the community. This year the Black Nurses Rock Ocala Chapter hosted its 2nd Annual Scholarship and Awards Gala at the Elliot Center in Ocala, Florida. The 2018 Scholarship and Awards Gala focused on honoring and awarding future nursing leaders with scholarship assistance to further their education. This year scholarship recipients Padmini Kumar and Jaquan Newmones were awarded $1000 in scholarship funds from the Black Nurses Rock Ocala Chapter. The Black Nurses Rock Scholarship and Awards Gala was a magical night for two dedicated hard-working future nursing leaders it was an honor and privilege for Taylor College to sponsor and be a part of this amazing event!
